International roaming might not be something you've
considered as being useful, but once you've had it, you'll want it
everytime
you go abroad. On this page you can find out how to activate
this service, how much it costs, and all importantly, how you can access a
world
of mobile features whilst being abroad. |
Going Abroad?

If you are a Pay Monthly customer, you’ll be able to use your handset in over 150 countries and territories around the world, allowing you to make and receive voice calls and text messages. Plus there are other 3 networks in Europe and Australasia, which means you can make video calls back home and keep up with the latest UK news, weather and sports, just like in the UK.

What are the Call Charges?

Charges for services abroad will depend on where you are travelling. To find out charges for specific countries, please click here. If the country you are travelling to is not listed, it means that 3 do not yet have an agreement with a network in that country and you cannot use your handset there. 3 are constantly expanding their partnerships abroad, so check back regularly for updates.
A roaming bundle is available from 3 so you can reduce the cost of your calls and texts whilst you are abroad. With Add International Saver, for just 15 a month, you can talk on your mobile to anyone you like, in 23 destinations, for as long as you like. Click here for full information on this bundle.

Before You Go...

The first thing you need to do if you know you'll be travelling abroad, is make sure you have International Roaming enabled for your handset. The best way to do this is to call 3 Customer Services. Three are contactable on 333 from your handset or 0870 7330333 from another phone. They'll check that you can use your handset abroad or can switch it on for you if necessary. If they agree, it will take approximately 24 hours for International Roaming to be enabled on your handset. Roaming is available to approved customers only.

You also need to make sure your voicemail and videomail are set up correctly, as you will need your voicemail PIN to access them from some countries abroad. If you haven't already set up your voicemail or Videomail, dial 123 from your handset and make sure you enter a PIN that you can easily remember. If you've forgotten your PIN, you can call 3 Customer Services to change it. Videomail is also only available in other 3 sister territories.

|
You might also want to programme your handset to include international dialling codes. Pre-fix the existing number with a + sign followed by the country code and remove the first digit from the area code. You can still use the international format when you are back in the country and it won't cost you any more than a local UK number format.
Finally, remember to charge up your battery and take your charger with an appropriate adaptor for your destination country. |
